Get to Know Matt Redman – Administrative Assistant

Matt Redman - Administrative Assistant
Matt has always loved museums, and he enjoys collecting things, such as Hopi Kachinas, Zuni Fetishes, cast iron cookware, rocks and crystals, and his ever expanding vinyl record collection.

We welcomed Matt to our museum in April 2024. Matt has lived in Mt. Shasta for about two years with his wife, Barbara, and his son, Phoenix. His two older children are in college. Matt is a Los Angeles native. He was a gymnast since age 6 and received an athletic scholarship to compete at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. He majored in Anthropology. After college, he returned to Los Angeles and worked in the live music business as a “Roadie” or “Tech.” After 10 years in that industry, Matt wanted to shift his focus, He ended up working in the Social Sciences in the Research and Evaluation field, primarily working in Data Operations.

In 2022, he took a vacation with his family to visit Mt. Shasta. On the drive back to Los Angeles, they decided to move to Mt. Shasta permanently.

Matt has settled in well and enjoys greeting our visitors, helping the volunteers, and assisting in any way he can. His friendly smile and manner are greatly appreciated.
Thursday Morning at the Museum

“I love being here at the Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum! As a recent resident to the area, this gives me an amazing opportunity to learn so much about the history of the area! I love how this museum is supported by the community. It’s amazing listening to children, as well as adults, talk about how they don’t want to leave the museum and how there is so much to learn here.”
